Let me start at the beginning.
A couple of months ago, Ali at Lemon Poppy emailed us and asked if we would be willing to contribute a couple of recipes for a cookbook she was putting together to help out a family. She had heard the story of the Fish family, who have two daughters with a rare gene disorder called Leaky SCID's (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency). Ali was so moved by their story that she decided to reach out to over 40 of her fellow food bloggers to help create a cookbook whose proceeds would help with the huge medical bills this family has incurred.
After I saw this video about little Alice and Natalie and their amazing family, my heart broke. As a mother, I couldn't imagine going through what this family has gone through. And I'd be lying if I didn't say this video makes me a little weepy every time I see it. You can learn more about the Fish family here.
This cookbook is really good too! There are so many amazing bloggers out there that have helped this cookbook come to life and their food is excellent, I promise! I can't wait to make some of the yummy recipes in here. Plus, two of those recipes are Girls in Aprons recipes, so you know they have to be good :)
The cookbooks are in the same format as Lemon Poppy's other books, but this one is huge! Each recipe has a full color picture and is wire bound in laminated 3x5 cards.
The cookbook is offered in print (for $14.99) or ebook (for $5.99) that can be downloaded to your computer, iPad or Kindle. And 100% of the ebook proceeds go directly to the Fish family!
Go here to purchase the cookbook for yourself! I know that we can help this family out and we here at Girls in Aprons are so honored to be apart of this cookbook!
Girls in Aprons is also giving away one cookbook to one of you! This is a beautiful book and you will love all the amazing, diverse recipes inside! All you have to do is leave a comment on this blog post. THAT'S IT!! One comment per person.
We will draw a winner next Thursday at 8pm PST. Good luck!
